The last time I shed a tear over a football result - West Germany 3 England 2 (though i did shed one at the game vs Wolves after Bobby Moore died)

After the World Cup everyone, like EVERYONE, playing football at primary school wanted to be Jarzhino or Pele rather than Bobby Moore or Geoff Hurst. Everyone loved that Brazil side.

Re: 1970
1970 sticks out in my mind for the World Cup in Mexico. The Brazil v England game where Mooro played a blinder and Banks made that save. The Brazil v Italy final was an outstanding football match. For me that Brazil side was and remains the greatest team ever in my lifetime.

Other Football related memories from that year? All a bit of a blur. I seem to recall we took the North Bank Highbury, the Park Lane and the Shed. Although in those days it was par for the course. I also managed to get arrested up at Man City on the Kippax. Bad memory of having to go back up there the following week escorted by my Dad to appear in court along with eight other West Ham blokes. I felt bad for my parents.

Mr jones.

Your conquest sounds so much like a character from the 'confessions' series of books by Timothy Lea in the early/mid 70's.

My first shag. Had a couple of sticky fingers prior to the great occasion but the delicious Mildred Livermore (yes that was really her name) spread those slightly chubby white legs......

I too was born that year.
Stooges released Fun House, which included the track "1970" aka "I feel alright"

Born in '62 meself, which meant that my first exposure to 1970 by The Stooges was hearing in covered by The Damned in their early days, which I loved at the time...

Re: 1970
Biggest memory of 1970.....a mate from school turned up at my house on his Triumph Thunderbird with two tickets for the IOW Festival that he got from his sister who worked in the music business. He was a massive fan of Rory Gallagher, Ten Years After and Family and, through another mates older sister, I was into the Groundhogs, Free, Pink Fairies and Terry Reid. Just as we were setting off sans crash hats and money my mum came home early from work and scuppered the whole adventure. Probably due to me being only 11 and my mate 14 at the time. I've still got the unused ticket.

Re: 1970
Where do I start? My best mate fell off the cliff at the Isle of Wight festival - barely 16 and stoned, not for the first time.He survived but is a shadow of the Keith I once knew.
My Dad,a very strict bloke, got liver cancer which turned out to be terminal. He was in hospital all summer so I was left to my own devices...free of his 'iron rod' it was a
long summer where I discovered girls, beer ,music and motorbikes.I went halves with my mate on an old Ariel Square Four.We bought it for £30 and sold it for £120 after rebuilding the engine.I wish I still had it.Went to Boulogne on a school day trip ,my rucksack stank of garlic snails for months !!
Music played a big part...bought my first vinyl,Deep Purple in Rock and nearly wore it out....My Mum,bless her, worked her socks off supporting her three young sons....15,8 and 6 ...you never appreciate them when they're there ..Free were in the charts with 'Alright now' Mungo Jerry with 'In the Summertime' and the Beatles with 'Hey Jude'
I fished the local lake from dawn til dusk.Caught my first tench,a very respectable 5 pounder which won Junior Fish of the Year at my fishing club-happy happy days.
